What We Believe

 Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
  • We believe in God. God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • We believe the Bible is God’s inerrant Word and in its authority in our lives.

  • We believe that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, by Him only can a person be saved. We believe that He was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, died for our sins, and arose from the dead. We believe that He makes intercession for us at the right hand of God the Father, has given believers the gift of the Holy Spirit, and that He is coming again.

  • We believe people were created by God, have sinned against God, and matter to God. We believe that by God’s grace, through faith in Christ and repentance, people can have a relationship with God.

  • We believe that marriage and family is foundational to society and that they are God’s idea. Marriage is a lifelong covenant between God, a man, and a woman.

  • We believe that once you are saved and are a part of God’s family that you cannot lose your salvation, that a born again believer is eternally secure.

  • We believe that all Christians are gifted by the Holy Spirit and called to serve God and others for His glory – that all members are ministers.

  • We believe that the church is made up of born again believers. The church exists as the Body of Christ at large and operates through the local church.

  • Diamond Hill Baptist Church is an independent/autonomous church that freely cooperates with The Southern Baptist Convention and other partnerships. The two ordinances of the church are Believer’s Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

BELIEVER'S BAPTISM:

  • The word “baptize” in Greek means “to immerse.” Baptism pictures the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Baptism does not wash away your sins; that happened the moment you turned from your sins and trusted the Lord Jesus as Savior. It does symbolize your old life before Christ dying and you “rising again” to your new life in Christ.

    • Romans 6:3-4, “Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Jesus told us to do this.

    • Matthew 28:19-20, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

LORD'S SUPPER:

  • The Lord's Supper (Communion) is a reminder of the Lord’s death for our sins.

    • 1 Corinthians 11:24, "…and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." It is a symbol. The bread represents Christ’s body and the cup represents Christ’s blood (1 Corinthians 11:25). It is statement of our faith in the death of Jesus for our sins, His victorious resurrection, and His future return (1 Corinthians 11:26).

  • Believers are invited to participate in The Lord’s Supper (Mark 14:22-26).

  • We believe that we should keep our focus on the Great Commission and be willing to sacrifice in whatever way, so that people may hear the good news of Jesus Christ.

  • We believe that people will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation.

The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 serves as a summary statement of faith for Diamond Hill Baptist Church.
